MARK PEEL is Associate Professor in the School of Historical Studies at Monash University, where he teaches Australian, Comparative and American History. His publications include Good Times, Hard Times: The Past and the Future in Elizabeth, which was short-listed for Non-Fiction in the 1995 Age Book of the Year Award and A Little History of Australia.
CHRISTINA TWOMEY_is Associate Professor of History at Monash University, Australia. She has published widely on the cultural history of war, and is the author of Australia's Forgotten Prisoners: Civilians Interned by the Japanese in World War II and Deserted and Destitute: Motherhood, Wife Desertion and Colonial Welfare.
