Daniel Mark Epstein is the author of more than fifteen books of poetry, biography, and history, including Lincoln and Whitman: Parallel Lives in Civil War Washington, which received an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and The Lincolns: Portrait of a Marriage. His work has appeared in The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and The New Republic. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
