John Akokpari is a senior lecturer in the political studies department at the University of Cape Town and a former lecturer and researcher at Dalhousie University, St Mary's University, and the University of Lesotho. He has published widely on a variety of topics concerning African politics, including civil society, democratization, development, foreign policy, globalization, international migration, and conflicts management. Daniel Shea Zimbler is a researcher at the Centre for Conflict Resolution in Cape Town, South Africa, and was awarded the James Curry dissertation prize while at the University of Oxford. Francis Deng is the director of the Center for Displacement Studies, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute, and a former ambassador of Sudan to the United States. He is the author and coauthor of numerous publications including African Reckoning, Protecting the Dispossessed, Sovereignty as Responsibility, and Tradition and Modernization.
