This project addressedthe issues surrounding the current state of knowledge, testing protocols, performance, regulatory environment, and research gaps pertaining to the widespread use of residential sized non-leaded brass materials in potable water systems. The goal was to synthesize the current state of knowledge through a series of topic papers and then convene experts in the field to develop research needs and priorities. A total of 27 priority issues and research needs were identified, in the following areas: Leaching, Performance, and Product Acceptance Criteria, Costs, Plumbing Code Revisions and Marketplace Enforcement, Education and Technology Transfer, Manufacturing Issues, and Regulatory Impact and Implementation.
