A Message from Anna Eleanor Roosevelt
The many programs, public facilities, and social policies we now take for granted as part of our everyday lives in local communities as well as in our nation were created by the New Deal generation. I am delighted that The New Deal: A 75th Anniversary Celebration will make the story of the New Deal easily accessible to younger generations who are probably unaware of how decisively America changed during the 1930s. For older generations, this book will be a lively reminder.
I hope this book will inspire our up-and-coming leaders to address the problems and opportunities America faces in the twenty-first century with the spirit of innovation, pragmatism, and hope that were the hallmark of my grandparents, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
