Manya Tessler spent two years in Japan, where she often visited the home of a painter and his wife, a doll maker—where they painted, talked, and ate snacks. The story about Yuki represents Manya’s feelings about her time with the couple. Manya grew up in Philadelphia and went to SVA. Last year she was married in Bulgaria, and now lives in Queens, NY, with her husband. This is her first book.
