Carter Vaughn Findley is Professor of History at Ohio State University. He is the author of Ottoman Civil Officialdom: A Social History and Bureaucratic Reform in the Ottoman Empire: The Sublime Porte, 1789-1922, as well as a co-author of Twentieth-Century World, among other titles. He is a past
president of the World History Association and the Turkish Studies Association.
