The Khilifat movement was the first religiously inspired mass movement of the Muslims of South Asia. Hindus under Gandhi also participated. The people agitated when Britain threatened the institution of the Caliphate (Khilafat) at the end of the First World War. Jauhar was the most prominent
leader of this movement. He was charged with treason and tried in Karachi. This book presents the records of his trial, complete with historical background.
