Brendan O'Carroll, an acclaimed Irish playwright and stand-up comedian, is the author of the bestselling Agnes Browne trilogy: The Mammy (the basis for the film Agnes Browne, directed by and starring Angelica Huston), The Chisellers, and The Granny. As an actor, he has appeared in the films The Van and Angela's Ashes.
