Lolita Gutie;rrez Brockington is an emeritus associate professor of history at North Carolina Central University and a fellow with the Institute of African American Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is the author of The Leverage of Labor: Managing the Corte;s Haciendas in Tehuantepec, 1588–1688.
