Planet Earth presents an integrated view of the earth as a system evolving through time. The pertinent principles of physics and chemistry are introduced first, followed by sections on cosmology and physical geology that explain the dynamics of the planet as a celestial body, its chemical composition, and the way it works. This leads to a study of the parallel evolution of life and environment, all the way to the ice ages, the emergence of modern humans, and the present environmental crises. The treatment is technical, but elementary in the sense that no math or science higher than high school level is required.
