Joe Sharpnack has been an editorial cartoonist for 13 years. His work has appeared in USA Today, the National Times, the Seattle Times, and the Financial Times of London. He is the author of What America Wants, America Gets(Ide House, 1996). In 1989 he was the first college newspaper cartoonist ever to be nominated for the Menken Award. In 1991, while on the staff at the Chicago Daily Southtown, he received the Chicago Headliner Club's Peter Lisagor Award. He lives in Iowa City, Iowa
