Phyllis Reynolds Naylor PHYLLIS NAYLOR lives with her husband in Bethesda, Maryland, but used to live in Silver Spring, where the Alice books take place. She also used to sit in a music store, like the one Alice's father manages, and wait for her younger son, Mike, to finish his trumpet lesson. (He now plays the drums.) She is the author of seventy-five books for both children and adults. Some of her titles are The Agony of Alice; Alice in Rapture, Sort Of; Reluctantly Alice; Night Cry; Shiloh (winner of the 1992 Newbery Award); Beetles, Lightly Toasted, and Send No Blessings. She and her husband have two grown sons and two small granddaughters.
